JinkoSolar Panels: The N-Type Series

Published: 28 July 2021

JinkoSolar is a leading solar panel manufacturer, with more than 70 gigawatts (GW) of capacity delivered around the world.

JinkoSolar was founded in 2006 in Shanghai, and went public on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in 2010. JinkoSolar panels have been installed in more than 160 countries, in projects of all scales: residential, commercial and utility.

JinkoSolar has nine production facilities, which use advanced and highly automated manufacturing processes. The company also has 22 subsidiaries, and owns one of the largest UL certified testing laboratories in the world. As of 2021, the annual production capacity of JinkoSolar is:

  • 22 GW of monocrystalline wafers
  • 11.5 GW of solar cells
  • 31 GW of solar modules

On July 12, 2021, the high performance N-Type solar panels from JinkoSolar set a new global efficiency record. The modules achieved a conversion efficiency of 23.53%, which was tested and confirmed independently by TÜV Rheinland.

JinkoSolar is one of the brands we work with at Instyle Solar, and we offer their high performance N-Type modules.

The Tiger Monofacial solar panel from the N-Type Series

The Tiger monocrystalline panel from JinkoSolar uses the Tiling Ribbon (TR) technology, which increases conversion efficiency by eliminating the gap between solar cells. The module design also uses 132 half-cells instead of 66 normal solar cells, which increases its efficiency further. Combined, the TR and half-cell technologies achieve a total improvement of 20.96%.

  • Measuring 1855 x 1029 mm, the Tiger solar panel is only slightly taller than a typical residential module (1600 x 1000 mm), while having the same width.
  • However, the Tiger module has a rated wattage of 380-400W, while most home solar panels are below 350 W.
  • Tiger solar panels have a very slow degradation rate, which means they deliver more electricity during their service life.
  • The typical power production warranty of solar panels covers 25 years, with a 2.5% capacity loss during the first year, and then a linear loss of 0.6% per year. However, N-Type panels from JinkoSolar have a 30-year power warranty, with a rated loss of 1% during the first year and then 0.40% per year.
  • While a JinkoSolar N-Type panel will still have 87.4% of its original capacity after 30 years, a solar panel with the standard 25-year warranty will only have 83.1% capacity after 25 years of use.
  • Assuming the same initial wattage, the guaranteed electricity output of N-Type solar panels during their lifetime is almost 24% higher, compared with solar panels that have a standard warranty. This also means your power bill savings will be around 24% higher.

For example, if you install a 10-kW home solar system with Tiger panels from JinkoSolar, you will still have 8.74 kW of generation capacity after 30 years. On the other hand, a system with solar panels that have a standard degradation rate will only generate 8.31 kW after 25 years. At this point, the 10-kW system with Tiger solar panels will still have 8.94 kW and five years of warranty coverage left.

The Tiger module from JinkoSolar is also designed to perform better under low-light conditions. This increases its energy output during the first hours of the morning, the last hours of the afternoon, and days with cloudy weather.
