Fronius solar.web is an online solar monitoring tool that links all your Fronius inverters and solar systems to a single web-based app. Through the app, you can monitor the status of all of your solar installations and remotely access and configure each system.
The tool, available in over 30 languages, allows users to monitor and control their solar systems and electrical appliances from any web-enabled computer or smartphone. To use the app homeowners will need to install a Fronius Smart Meter.
A smart meter is an electricity meter capable of measuring energy input and output of your home, the grid, solar panels, home batteries and more. They are more capable than a standard meter.
It is ideal for use in Australia, which receives approximately 58 million petajoules (PJ) annually. This has increased the use of solar with the government aiming for 1000 megawatts (MW) of solar energy generation.
Fronius solar.web allows users to control loads and even switch them on/off based on weather conditions to save money and improve the overall efficiency of the solar power system.
This article will explain what Fronius solar.web is, how you can use it, its advantages, and how to set it up.
Let’s get to it.
What is Fronius solar.web?
The solar.web app is Fronius’ cloud-based monitoring system that enables you to track, control, and analyse your solar energy system’s output. It continuously records the performance of your solar power plant – including its PV array, battery storage unit as well as charging stations for electric vehicles.
With solar.web, you can even monitor data from rented or borrowed systems.
The Fronius solar.web portal offers three main functions:
- Performance data analysis with graphs and charts: The solar.web portal provides detailed information on the performance of your system with easy access to data such as current and past production, output forecasts, system reports, and more.
- A wide range of communication tools: With its built-in messenger, chat function, and forum, the portal lets you contact other users via private messages or public forums. You can share your experiences with people sharing similar interests or questions about solar power.
- A comprehensive planning tool for PV systems: The calculation tool for PV systems helps you easily find an optimal solution for designing a PV system for your home or business per your specific technical requirements and budget constraints.
How does Fronius solar.web work?
The system data is received via the inverter’s data communication unit, which sends all essential data to Fronius solar.web over an internet connection.
By default, the data communication function is built-in to the SnapINverter and GEN24 Plus series, but it may be readily retrofitted to any other model. To display the power consumption, you’ll need a Fronius Smart Meter.
Why should you use Fronius solar.web?
Once you install your solar system on your roof, it’s critical to guarantee that it runs smoothly and efficiently. This is quite simple with the solar.web monitoring platform.
Over 650,000 installers and customers already rely on this platform because it offers the following benefits:
Monitor your solar panel production and solar inverter health
Remote monitoring allows you to check your system from anywhere using your smartphone or computer. You can see how much sun your solar panels are getting, the energy they’re generating, and the power you’re using at any given moment — or for the past day, week, or month. You can also see how your solar inverter is performing.
Monitoring helps you reduce energy costs
Fronius solar.web can help you identify ways to save money by using less electricity than you currently do. You can achieve this through simple measures such as switching off lights if they’re not needed or turning down heating if it’s not necessary at that time of year.
You get free installation
You easily download and install the application on your computer, tablet, or phone. This means that it won’t cost you anything extra in labour costs, which is always a good thing. And you don’t have to rely on a third party for the installation process.
It’s easy to use
You’re not going to struggle using solar.web because it’s effortless to use. It has been specifically designed with an intuitive interface so that anybody can use it without the need for training or any sort of special skills or expertise.
It’s customisable
You’re going to have a lot of freedom when it comes to customising your solar.web. You’ll take full advantage of all the various features and functions included in the system.

[Insert image here]
Open the app and click on the red icon at the bottom of your screen.
Click ‘Set Up My Fronius Inverter’ and choose the option ‘Grid-Connected Inverter.’
Go to your inverter and find the ‘Setup’ menu using the ‘Up’ or ‘Down’ button and then press ’Enter.’
Scroll down to ‘Wi-Fi Access Point’ where you can activate your Wi-Fi AP by pressing ‘Enter.’
You will see the SSID and password for the inverter’s Wi-Fi.
Step 3: Set up your Fronius account
Open the app on your device and follow the instructions on the screen to connect Fronius solar.web to your home Wi-Fi network by entering its (SSID) and password (WPA key).
Next, you’ll need to enter some information about your system: the serial number of your inverter, how many modules it contains, its location, etc.
Select a language for displaying system parameters in the inverter’s display menu.
Then confirm that you’ve started an online session with Fronius solar.web by clicking ‘Connect.’
You can use this online session at any time, even without having physical access to your inverter.
How to Read the Fronius Solar.Web Dashboard
When you login into the Fronius solar.web app, you will see a house drawing or a picture of your panels. You can update your image in your account’s ‘Settings’ section.
Under the image are five circles and beneath them is a 7-day overview chart.
Circle | What it represents |
Circle 1 (top left) | Displays what your panels are generating |
Circle 2 (top right) | Shows how much your home is consuming with a 5-minute interval reporting. |
Circle 3 (centre) | Represents the solar inverter whose work is to manage the flow of electricity between your solar panels. |
Circle 4 (bottom left) | Displays the amount of electricity your system is sending to the grid. |
Circle 5 (bottom right) | Displays the amount of charge or discharge of your battery. |
The solar.web app can show you exactly where your energy is going once you install a solar meter.
If you don’t have a Fronius smart meter, this display will tell you that 100% of your solar energy is being fed back to the grid, which is inaccurate.
